They came with nothing, but hope and prayers for a safe life- forced to leave behind their homes and hearths, for being Hindu kafirs in the heartless Islamist land of Pakistan. Left behind them were generations of ancestral faith, persecuted relentlessly by the Islamist society. Their temples lay desecrated and razed to ground, their daughters, sisters and wives snatched, raped and coercively converted, their kids abused, discriminated against and made to do manual labor in schools, poverty, unemployment and helplessness was accepted as parts of their lives.
Walls rose, where there was only tattered cloth — every brick a promise that Dharma never abandons those who seek refuge.
When these Hindu families reached India, the struggle was far from over. They were safe — but without roof over their heads. The refugee camps offered only thin sheets against rain and dust. Nights were harsh, food scarce, and dignity negligible. The women suffered the worst, while the elderly clung to prayers and hope, with no warmth in winter and safety in the rains.

It was in this fragile moment that Janswabhiman Welfare Society entered their lives. Our teams built solid homes for the refugees, transforming barren camps into habitable environment.
