For generations, Hindu families in Pakistan lived in fear as the hatred towards them increased exponentially in the Islamic nation. In villages across Sindh and Punjab, temples were defiled, women abducted and children forced to learn Islamic scriptures and offer namaz. Insults, abuse, discrimination and humiliation, for being kafir, became as normal as oxygen. Sensing the dangers on their families, especially their women, several Hindu families hurriedly decided to leave their ‘homeland’ Pakistan and settle in a new and unknown Bharat.
For the persecuted Hindus of Islamist Pakistan, these structures were not just sturdy as a rock but they were ‘HOME’.
But the promise of safety and hope in Bharat was filled with trials and tribulations. The refugee camps that awaited them were tents and barely there, open to scorching summers and chilling winters- no walls to guard their privacy, no strong roof to protect their children. Women bore the heaviest burden — struggling to preserve modesty, amidst uncertainty and fear of the unknown. But, even in such desolate conditions, the Hindu refugees had faith that Bharat would never abandon them.

As if to validate their faith, Janswabhiman Welfare Society entered their lives, with unwavering dedication to rebuild for them, what fate had shattered cruelly. But what really helped the refugees was the revival of belief in humanity and a sense of belonging. For the persecuted Hindus of Islamist Pakistan, these structures were not just sturdy as a rock but they were ‘HOME’ and made the long-disappointed Hindus realise that they are finally safe and Home!
