At Jan Swabhiman, we believe that Dharma begins where compassion is practiced — not just for humans, but for all living beings. Our Animal Welfare and Gau Seva initiatives are grounded in the sacred ethos of ahimsa (non-violence), seva (service), and karuna (compassion).
We serve the voiceless — those who cannot ask for help, but feel pain, hunger, fear, and love just like we do.
Gau Seva
The cow is more than an animal — she is Gaumata, the gentle nurturer, the symbol of abundance and purity, and the sacred heartbeat of our cultural identity.
Many gausevaks work with us on this mission, and we support them financially. It's risky work — some are injured in the course of a rescue — and when that happens, we take full responsibility for their families and medical treatment.
Our Gau Seva work includes:
- Rescuing injured, abandoned, or abused cows from roads, gutters, and slaughter-bound transport
- Medical treatment and recovery care through on-site clinics and mobile first-aid vans
- Daily feeding (Gau Graas) and long-term shelter for rescued Gaumatas
For the Gaumatas we could not save, we perform Antim Sanskaar (last rites) with dignity.
Gau Raksha is Rashtra Raksha.
Serving the cow is serving the nation, its soil, and its soul.
Gaushala
We support genuine Gaushalas on a need basis with financial assistance for gaugraas (cow feed), medicines, and more. We regularly support Shri Krishna Arjun Gaushala at Noida for monthly gaugraas and medicines. The Noida Gaushala shelters 100+ cows. Many arrived after being abandoned due to old age or illness, rescued from roadside accidents, gutters, or illegal slaughter routes, or left behind after being considered “unproductive” by previous owners.
Barmer, 2019
In 2019, drought struck Barmer, Rajasthan, and thousands of cows faced death from lack of fodder and water. We ran a 22-day relief campaign, saving more than 8,000 cows across Barmer and nearby districts.
Broader Animal Welfare
Feeding and medical support for injured stray dogs, monkeys, squirrels, and other animals in urban and rural areas. Emergency rescue operations during natural disasters (floods, heatwaves, and more).
