Every monsoon, the Brahmaputra unleashes its fury upon the innocent people of Assam, swallowing homes and lives. The fury-filled floods destroy everything in their paths, homes, livestock, food stocks and livelihood. The poor and the tribals living in the remote areas of the state are the worst affected, as they lose their all and are cut off from the main land, as village after villages disappear beneath muddy currents. In 2024, the floods returned with brutal force, ravaging settlements and destroying infrastructure. Villages were cut off for days. The promised relief aid never makes to these stranded villages and tribal settlements. Hunger, helplessness, diseases, apathy and neglect become the norm.
Every kit, every medicine, every clothes packet was handed with respect — “We are there for you, every step of the way!”
Janswabhiman Welfare Society stepped up in such excruciating circumstances for our brothers and sister in Assam. As waters raged, the team provided essentials, like dry ration kits, cooked food, clean drinking water, medicines and basic necessities to the affected people, door to door. Every kit, every medicine, every clothes packet was handed with respect, telling the flood-affected brethren “We are there for you, every step of the way!” Our team members never once hesitated to wade through deep waters- filled with filth and aquatic predators- to ensure every family and every animal was brought to safety. Distribution of adequate cooked food prevented starvation and hunger-fights. Medical aid helped prevent outbreak of diseases and infections.

As floodwaters lingered, something else began to rise—resilience. In relief camps and partially submerged villages, Janswabhiman gave the courage, strength and every possible support to the people, to re-build their lives. For Assam’s flood-affected families, this relief work by Janswabhiman Welfare Society was not just an emergency aid- it was a morale booster and living proof that service rooted in Dharma never discriminates or abandons. It is like oxygen, available for all, while asking for nothing in return.
