The skies unleashed their monsoon fury in and around Vansda taluka of Gujarat in July 2026, causing large scale devastating floods, displacing people, drowning livestock and snatching away livelihoods. The worst affected was the village of Khambaliya. The flash floods left the entire village craving for every grain of food, every shred of cloth and every drop of drinking water. The poor villagers were left waiting and praying for any help available.
Man and animal, all were rescued and tended to, alike, without any discrimination or conditions.
And help did come, in the form of Janswabhiman Welfare Society, who arrived armed with Dharmic values and compassion. The Janswabhiman Dharmasevaks rescued people stranded in their flooded homes and provided them with clothes, cooked meals thrice a day and medical aid. Our sevaks didn’t give a second thought to jump in the very strong currents of the floods, to rescue helpless people and livestock. Man and animal, all were rescued and tended to, alike, without any discrimination or conditions.
“Dharma never abandons or discriminates — giving villagers the resilient strength to fight and win against any challenge.”
Hunger-brawls and starvation were prevented through distribution of adequate cooked meals, epidemics and infections were fought against with the provision of medical aid. Women and girls, traumatised by the nature’s fury, were provided with hygiene products to ensure their physical well-being. As the flood waters receded, the hope and faith of the villagers was revived on the compassion and seva bhaav, the important pillars of Sanatan Dharma. It made them realise that Dharma never abandons or discriminates and gave them the resilient strength to fight and win against any challenge- natural or man-induced.
