Breath by Breath, a Battle for Life

Respiratory distress, poisoning and dehydration — every second counts for Gauvansh in crisis

By Jan Swabhiman Team

Respiratory distress and infections, organ infections and food poisoning from contaminated fodder or eating from garbage are slowly becoming a daily health hazard for the Gauvansh. A Gaumata struggling to breathe may stretch her neck forward, gasping, foam forming near her mouth. A young bull suffering from toxic ingestion may kick weakly, his stomach twisting in pain. A calf with severe dehydration may collapse, his tiny body unable to stand. Every delayed second in such a scenario pushes the jeev towards an untimely end.

Through every illness conquered, Janswabhiman proves that saving a life is not a service — it is Dharma.

But the Gausevaks of Janswabhiman Welfare Society put their all in trying to save the cherished Gauvansh and pull it out of its misery and suffering. They swiftly check the pulse and vitals of the jeev, administer medicines with practiced ease and insert drips with due diligence. They gently but promptly lift the suffering jeev onto the stretcher and rush it to hospital. They stroke the trembling bodies, whisper words of comfort, wipe tears from the corners of the Gaumata's eyes, and ensure she never feels alone in her suffering.

“They sit through long nights, monitoring breathing, adjusting drips — ensuring she never feels alone in her suffering.”

Even in the hospital, the Gausevaks offer their compassionate care. They sit through long nights, monitoring breathing, adjusting drips, feeding warm liquids, and praying silently. The moment the Gauvansh stands again is nothing short of a miracle. And through every illness conquered, the Jan Swabhiman Welfare Society proves that saving a life is not a service — it is Dharma.
